Hi all,
Just wanted to update everyone and let you know that my novel, 'God's Gift' will be released sometime in 2014 from WolfSinger Publications. This will be very interesting as this will be their first actual Christian Speculative. It was written and sold on this pitch line, "God told us you were coming, tell us about His son," were the first words the aliens spoke to the human settlers.
Also this year I am working on completing 'Winter Emergence' the next book in the Winter trilogy. I pitched an idea to Sky Warrior books and the editor liked it, despite the fact the first draft is not even completed yet. When I finish it I get to send it to her. I'm editing two anthologies this year, 'Supernatural Colorado' and 'Different Dragons 2'. (Deadlines for both has already passed.) And I'm working on a collaboration with local writer Julie Campbell combining her vampire/ghost hunting dogs and my vampire cats. WolfSinger has already said they'll take the book when finished.
I do want to add one thing here to encourage Christian Spec writers. Here's what I've noticed as an editor. While I have many good secular writers who submit to me, I really look forward to seeing stories from Christians. Their stories are more original, better written, for the most part, some need encouragement and guidance, and my anthos tend to have a higher number of Christian Spec pieces in them.
For instance, 'Time Traveling Coffers' about half the writers were Christian.
'Different Dragons' about a quarter to a third. Those are great averages compared to many others I've seen.
I'm not sure I'll be editing any anthologies next year. However, I am thinking I'd love to do one with strictly Christian writers. Any ideas on what type of themes you all would like to see?
God bless,
Dana Bell
