My Dearest Friends,
Over the past several months, I have been struggling with several key issues that have taken much, or all, of my attention to work through. My marriage ended, and I have had to work through the emotional turmoil that any such change causes. During this time, my faith was shattered and rebuilt, and my God and I are much closer than before.
However, during this time I had to do a lot of praying and thinking, and I have come to a decision. Effective immediately, I am shutting down the Cross and the Cosmos. I will be uploading the old issues to Scribd for posterity.
This decision was a hard one; one that I have struggled with since January. Simply put, my interests no longer coincide with those of TC2. This means that my attention is not focused where it should be in order to ensure that the highest quality of stories and that our God is glorified to the highest. In addition, it's been so long since I've written anything that I'm not even in that mindset anymore. When I realized that, the decision was very simple: I need to re-focus. How can I edit, let alone publish, material that I'm not involved with? Who am I serving when I'm so rusty that editing takes forever and the end product is still not where it should be. I'm not helping anyone, I'm hurting them by distracting them from their goals.
In closing, I would like to end on a high point. Jesus allowed me to touch so many lives, to see so many new talents. All of you have the potential to go far, much farther than I could possibly take you. By removing this distraction, I hope to free you to go forth and truly spread your wings. I'm kicking you out of the nest, as it were, to fly away, take off, and show the world how amazing you truly are. My fondest hope is that all of you can achieve publication, not necessarily through Christian publications, though. Most of you have the potential to reach higher, larger audiences through secular publication.
We should all of us be striving for that goal, for to be published in a secular publication means that your work is good enough to survive the strenuous competition of that market. More importantly, however, this is the best way to truly glorify our God: to go forth among non-Christians and be a blessing to them, as you have among your brothers and sisters.
All rights return to their respective authors, and commissioned artwork representing their work also belongs to them to do as they see fit. I will, of course, be willing to provide any working files at their request, as is. I'll also be posting the stats for sales and such soon for re-print.
It's been a fun ride, guys, God bless!
