Just back from ACFW, where I met our own Vaporwolf and Crimson Moon and...who am I forgetting? Awesome time. Much weirdness was had by all. Great gathering of Christian speculative novelists. Oh, there were some other people there too, I think. Not sure...
The short summary is that a TON of people in Christian publishing are watching Marcher Lord Press and hoping for its success. Through back channels (i.e., attendees) I heard of no fewer than three publishing companies that are saying they're closely watching MLP to see how we do. One editor even reportedly said her house is hoping for Jeff and MLP to blaze the trail and navigate all the obstacles so they can come along behind and reap the benefits. Love it.
Hey, in that scenario, everyone wins!
You others who were there, chime in with your favorite moments from the conference. Mine was in the late-night chat on Christian speculative fiction when a teenage girl in the back of the room broke out into Gaelic to sing a lilting song about kilts. Instant classic.

Was it kilts or Celts? Either way, it was fun. John Olson taught a class that was partly on scope and concept, partly on invoking tension and empathy. Quite aside from the fact that every example he used was speculative fiction, he had some real characters in the class who kept things lively. That was one thing I enjoyed.

Oh, sounds like it was fun! I hate it when people have fun without me! That's AWESOME Jeff! You blaze it, Boy! Hehehehe...If anyone can do it, that'd be you, hands down.
