Well, it seems that last night there was an attempt to torch the church I attend. There's not much info about who, and no indication as to motive. All we know is that we are fortunate that he built his Molotov cocktail with lamp oil and not gasoline so it only did damage to a patch of carpet. It's logical to say to pray for our church and our members, but I also feel prayer is in order for the arsonist. It is obvious that they either suffer from strong hatred or, in the least, callous disregard for others. I only hope that this is an isolated event and that the perpetrator doesn't try again.

How terrifying. Do you know anything new about this?

No. He hasn't returned. It was done sometime in the middle of the night, so no one was in there. I haven't heard or seen about any other churches having a similar problem, though this incident didn't even make local news, so I doubt any other church's would. On our end, it's just a broken window and a section of carpet that needs to be replaced. On his end, there's a broken soul in desperate need.

So glad no one was hurt. It's strange the number of people who pose violence against churches. I always wonder what they think they were going to solve. My husband's cousin was killed in a church shooting in Milwaukee a few years ago. (He had stepped in front of an elderly lady to protect her.) What is this world coming to? Jesus, come quickly. (But not before MLP goes live.)

I figure he'll come when he comes. Or so I keep reminding myself. I have a habit of asking him not to come until I've found a girl to marry, had kids and grand kids, and died at a ripe old age. Then I realize that if God honored all those prayers from everyone, he'd never come.

LOL, I so know what you guys mean. I'm ashamed to admit that I once prayed that while I really wanted Jesus to return quickly, I hoped He wouldn't mind waiting until I'd seen the premier of Fellowship of the Ring. Our church has recently had a window broken and bullets fired into it, all at night.

I used to work at your church. I was there when (well, I mean later that morning) someone broke in and tried to open the pop machine in the break room for money. All they managed to do was bend a latch and snag spare change from people's desks. The head Levite used to leave the outside sheds open in the winter so the homeless could have a warm place to sleep. And he figured, they're going to break in, anyway, so may as well save the locks. He was about 6'4", 250, so they didn't bug him.
I was also there when the remnants of the Texas Seven were under seige in the hotel down on Garden of the Gods. I understand you got broken into a few months ago and had some electronic equipment stolen (I'm still good friends with your graphic designer).
Ahhh, good times. Good times.
