Maybe not. I know I'm the conspiracy theory nut on this board (and proud of it!) but I have a notion.
One. Russia recently (after declaring war on) shut of their gas supply to Europe, now I'm no political or military advisor or expert, but does that not tend to be the first steps for...oh you know...military response?
Two. Gaza. Have you been reading the news or watching tv? Yes? Then nuff said. No? Well, that 2000 year long fued between Israel and Palestine...it kind of exploded.
This to me already seems like WW3 just no one but Israel had the courtesy to start shooting. North and South America are sitting on the sidelines until, God forbid, another pearl harbour launches us into actino (us being North America, not just you guys in the US).
Does anyone else kind of think God is telling us something? I'm kinda thinking the message is, guess what? Time's up, you guys messed up, time to come home.
Thoughts? Think I'm crazy? (clinically, I'm paranoid...so the answer is actually yes) I'd like to hear some points on this.

I'm crazy too, but I have seen this situation too many times to be afraid of it now. Give Obama a couple of years to mess up the international situation and we'll talk.
Scincerely,

Either I'm the only one to post so far who's not paranoid, or I'm trusting God to take care of me regardless.
But really, is anything any worse than it has been? Anyone remember the cold war? Viet Nam? The Cuban Missile Crisis? The conflicts between Russia and Afghanistan, Russia and Georgia, Russia and anyone to their south and west who didn't submit to their rule or influence?
Nothing mentioned in this thread, and nothing in the news lately, is new. It's been going on all of my life and all of my parents' lives, if not long before, and it hasn't even accelerated much in the last few years.
But certainly we're moving closer to the end. I just don't see the current news as the fulfillment of any particular end times prophesy.

IMO; God's gonna do what God's gonna do. Whether we thing the "signs" are true or relevant or whatever, they are what they are. Is the end near? Probably. But in God's timeline it's here. Everything to God is "NOW" whether it's the moment of creation or the moment of final destruction. We're the only ones concerned with time and timelines.
Am I concerned? A little I guess, because there's still so much I havent' done and want to accomplish. But that's not up to me. If we as the body of Christ are truly concerned that the end is near, then we need to get up off our collective keesters and work that much harder to live as Christ would have us live and get the saving message to as many folks as possible. Remember, it's not our responsibility to save them, just to tell them how to be saved.
Peter Marshall said basically that Christians are simply one beggar telling another beggar where to find the food. So, go out and tell all those starving souls where to get that perfect free meal. And don't worry about the signs. You can't change them. You can't prevent them. Do your job, every day, to the best of the ability of Christ within you (which is pretty good if you ask me). God's gonna do what God's gonna do.

I can remember some of the charismatic folks at work in a dither when Sadat (Egyptian president) was assassinated. They held their collective breath for three days, certain he would come back from the dead after being shot in the head.
I also remember discussions at work by people who were certain Gorbachav was the anti-Christ because of the dragon-ish birthmark on his head.
I was in grade school when JFK was assassinated — the world was about to end then as well.
Somewhere in my personal library is a book printed either just before or during early WWI. The author gives all the reasons and document interpretations for his belief that the Kaiser was the anti-Christ.
Bad times don't necessarily mean end times. Civilizations rise & fall according to God's plan. If you happen to be in the middle of one of the civilizations when He topples it, it won't be fun, but we have the Father's protection and grace to endure it. Our job is still to obey the great commandment and the great commission. Beyond that, He controls all.

You guys should check out a book called Epicenter. It's written by journalist/novelist Joel Rosenburg and is basically an interpretation of Ezekiel 38-40, according to our times and how they play out. It's very interesting and scary at the same time.

I think that there's validity in a lot of viewpoints and interpretation of scripture, but the finger pointing has gotten ridiculous over the decades, so I can't say I see much legitimacy there. I just trust God that at the right time everything will happen the way it's supposed to. Do what you believe to be right as your conscious renewed by God's Word dictates to you and don't judge others doing other things or not what you're doing. Tell them, for sure, but if they don't do what you do, then leave it in God's hands. They may be doing what He's told them to do.
