While looking for a home for my short stories, I stumbled on a magazine that does not accept submissions that have already been posted on a private blog if it does not require the reader to sign in with a password. This article had a few more specifics, but not many: www.writersdigest.com/article/Shades_of_Gray/My short stories are on my blog--and I have to leave them unsecured for at least a week if I want to submit them to the weekly contest. Is that "published"? I understand their point, but, wow. Anyone know what to do with this?

Hmmm... I've heard a little about this. I also read the link you gave. The article you linked to said that as far as blogs go, its still considered private (for now) and not technically published. But I agree with the end of the article when it stated that if you are hoping to publish a certain article or story that it would be better not to post it on your blog at all.
As far as the stories you've already posted on your blog, you'll probably have to ask the editor of the magazine you're hoping to go with if they will accept what you've posted.
