As a few of you know, I have been to Africa a couple of times in search of a living dinosaur called Mokele-mbembe, or He-Who-Divides-The-Waters (and yes, that is where I get my screen name). I have been offered a chance to go a third time, with a film crew, to film an episode for a well-known TV show (name withheld for the moment). I have been quite busy with preparations, and so have not had a chance to be an active member here (defending my "master of anomalies" title). I will be much more vocal when I return, but I would very much appreciate prayers in the meantime. Safety for all those going, God's will in the expedition, etc. This is going to be only an "arrow-flight" trip, two weeks instead of four, but many layers of red tape have to be cut through both prior to and after our arrival in the target area, so please pray for the speedy and smooth facilitation of our travel, as well.

God bless you in your search. Hope you find it and survive to tell us about it. I'll keep you in prayer.

Thanks. Ironically, the whole thing came about due to a novel I was writing about the subject some years back....

I can't believe I neglected to mention that.
Well, since 1992 or so I've wanted to do a novel about the search for MM. I happened to be in a Christian bookstore when I saw Clint Kelly's The Lost Kingdom on the shelves. I was both thrilled and devastated. Someone had had my idea! I hinted that I wanted the book for Christmas, got it, and read it. I was relieved to discover that his story was significantly different from mine, but I wrote him anyway, to let him know I appreciated reading it, and how to approach a story with a similar concept but different themes. He was very gracious, and got me in touch with Chad Arment, who ran a Young Earth Creationist email group. It was there that I met Bill Gibbons, who has spent the better part of twenty years looking for MM. I happened to read in a Fortean Times magazine that Bill was going to be part of another expedition. I called Bill and said that I didn't have any credentials to speak of, but I would carry his water or row his boat if he let me come along. Bill told me that the original man he was going to go with was a paranormalist nut who would get himself killed if he went anywhere near the Congo, and he was starting his own group, and would I like to be the first member? After a nanosecond or so of reflection, I said yes. (Bill had read and participated in many of my online debates with evolutionists, and been impressed.)
Anyway, I leave on the second of March (next Monday) and am due to return the fifteenth.

You'll be gone to the Congo when my wife and I are gone to China to get our little girl ( www.BringSophieHome.com). I hope we bring back a baby and you bring back photos of the elusive MM--and none of us brings back any exotic diseases. We leave on March 11th and should be back on the 27th. Jeff

Maybe we'll pass each other. I'll wave if I see a plane. Just got my itinerary TONIGHT. Man, these people like to cut things close.

God's speed and protection for both of your journeys. Gotcha on the prayer list from now until you each return.
