...introduce myself. My name is Ashley and I stumbled upon this happy venture by way of God's guidance. Who knew all of this was out here?! I am honored and humbled to be in the presence of so many talented writers and thinkers. Not to mention rubbing elbows with fellow sci-fi fans! ;D I am a pastor's wife and stay-at-home mom. I enjoy singing both in church and in our community. My background is in professional theatre, but my heart has turned to writing. I have recently completed a Christian sci-fi novel and I'm looking to publish it...of course. Oh, and I really am a Duchess. I have papers to prove it! I'm looking forward to meeting all of you...and joining in on some discussions!

Welcome, you've found your way home. Now you just have to check out Jeff's HUGE booklist if you haven't and his Marcher Lord Press website. There's plenty of great people on here, so explore to your heart's content and let your mind buzz with all the great imaginations featured on here. Enjoy!
Be encouraged,
David

Welcome, Duchess. There's always room for one more unique individual around here. Congrats on writing your first novel. You've already surpassed most of the people in the world who talk about writing, but never put pen to paper.
Best advice I ever got from a fellow writer was "do your homework." I.e. research the publishers and their writing guidelines thoroughly before submitting even a query letter.
Again, welcome and good luck!

Welcome, Duchess! Your royal presence honors us.
So how did you find us? I'm always curious about how God brings people here.
And please explain the duchess thing. When I was researching prizes for the launch of Marcher Lord Press I considered one of those things that grants you a knighthood in Scotland with a title and even hunting rights on their Scottish property. Is yours like that?
Welcome!
Jeff

I feel so welcome! Thank you all for your kind responses. And for the encouragement! morwena - I have 2 kids under age 3, so having exactly half of what you have, I can imagine how busy you are! Always a pleasure to meet a fellow pastor's wife, too! And Sir Jeff, indeed it was Providence that led me to this wonderful place! You might recognize this story when I tell you - I am from your neck of the woods and saw the MLP URL on a SUV (how's that for abbreviations?!) I'm currently working through your writing tips and learning a great deal. As for being a Duchess, yes, it's similar to what you described. My brother purchased the title for me as a Christmas gift one year. My title is logged with the "British Title Registrars," which I'm sure is just a fancy name for "We got your money and sent you a fancy document with a ribbon on it." But it's fun to be able to claim Duchess-ness. Thanks again to all who extended welcome to me. As I marked this site as a Favorite, the label came up, "Home," which I think is appropriately named.

Hey, welcom to the anomoly! Great to see new people showing up. It is a great place to find other like-minded christian writers and there are lots of very helpfull people here. I am sure you will enjoy your stay. Pretty interesting about you being adutchess... lol but I get the feeling your right on it being a fancy word for "We got your money and sent you a fancy document with a ribbon on it." Haha, no worries, though. Welcome aboard!

That's terrific, Duchess!
You saw MY CAR!
I got that car magnet for free (well, I paid $4 shipping) as a promotional deal to try out a printer. I've had it on there only a month or so but wondered if anyone ever saw it and found the site. I'm tremendously thrilled that you did!
The sign says:
Marcher Lord Press.com Christian Science Fiction and Fantasy Novels Perfect Escapes
One person asked me if I really was interested in Christian Science novels (as in novels written by people in the Christian Science offshoot of Christianity).
I'm glad to see that someone understood me!
Jeff

Yikes! I never thought about "Christian Science Fiction" sounding like "Christian Science fiction." That's funny! I had the license plate, "JEDIKNT" for the longest time and I got all kinds of crazy questions about it. You have to love people. And thanks, Jax, for the welcome!

Duchess, Would you mind passing along the site where you (ahem) received your title? I've got a son that would love having knighthood as a birthday/christmas present. He has a hero complex.

Here you go, tris: www.regaltitles.com/I imagine there are others out there that might be a little cheaper. You may want to Google "fake titles." And there's nothing wrong with a hero complex. I think that's great!

Welcome Duchess, from another science fiction author in the area! Glad you found us here. I remember once I went into a Christian Science bookstore and asked for a job application... only to discover they weren't that kind of bookstore.

You have to wonder how many people get sucked into the whole Christian Science thing that way. And along those lines - Scientology. Hopefully, people are smarter than that. And my, a pledge of service. I am humbled and honored.
