..for me to come out of lurking! I'm a notorious lurker, on one forum I belong to (out a total of 3 counting this one) I was a member for around six months before I ever posted. After being a member here for over a month I decided to just go ahead and post already. (Look at me showing progress!) So about me ;D My name is Carie and as you can tell from my oh so clever screen name I'm mom to two beautiful girls, Jenifer (8 in less than a month) and Lena (just made 4). You guys can call me JLM for short everyone else does So like a lot of people around here I have this book that's been following me around for over 11 years. I've dragged my beat up journal and the loose paper hanging out of it through two moves, two kids and 3 jobs. I only recently got serious about actually finishing it and... well let's just get it finished and I'll consider whether to send it anywhere So anyway, Howdy!

Hey, JLM! I'm a mom of two, also! Isn't it hard to find time to write? That's one reason I look forward to their bedtime! What kind of story are you working on? Welcome aboard!

Yes bedtime is a great time to write and weekends. Although both are old enough to help out and "go play" What I'm writing is fantasy. The sword in my avatar (kinda hard to see I know) is what the relic in my book looks like. (I had a friend at the site I mod work it up for me and I love it!) There are 4 relics altogether so the (terrible) working title is Sword & Shield, Scroll & Seal. I've started calling S4 just so I don't have to type it out every time ;D

Welcome JenLenaMom! I'm also a mother of youngsters here. Around my house I have mandatory "quiet time" for an hour every afternoon and that's when I get my hour of writing in. I also write fantasy and am almost done with it (so I know what you're going through ;P)

I didn't know online critique groups existed! Any advice on how to find a good one...?

I know there is one at Absolute Write. Beyond that I got started at Dragonmount.com which is dedicated to Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time. One of the orgs there is for all things creative. The other one is at a site started by two friends I met at DM. We were all in that writer's group so it made sense for us to start one at the new site. Not to seem like I'm trying to phish for members but here's the link. www.myndjack.com/forums/index.phpThe admins like to tout it as being about everything and nothing I would say the most important thing about an online group is that it is PRIVATE. password protected or special permissions need to view the board. It's my understanding that it protects your first publication rights. (Maybe Jeff could chime in and tell me if I'm right or not) Before posting any of your own work it's usually polite to critique a couple of previously posted pieces, I'll scratch your back so you can scratch mine

How did you find us?
I'm glad you disengaged your cloaking device.

Welcome! I seem to be the only non-mother on the forum... which confuses me. Ah well, glad to see you here off the map!
