I need prayer. It looks like I'm about to lose my day job. I'll still be an associate pastor, and that is where my heart has been going. That and I desperately want to teach God's word. But the job that pays the bills may be ending. I do not know when. My boss has not been happy with my programming work lately (in Ruby on Rails), so he wants to transition me to Delphi (the language I used when I got the job). Problem is that there isn't a lot of Delphi work out there so this may be effective termination.
Maybe this is God's way of saying that my days as a full-time programmer are ending. I can live with that. It's the where to go from here that flips me out.

Man, I can really relate. I'm a pastor's wife and both my parents lost their jobs a few months back. I know how hard and scary that can be. My prayers are with you. I pray that God will provide direction and give you all you need!

Fluke, your boss may not be happy, full stop, so whatever happens, don't get a downer on yourself or your performance.
I hope matters smooth out for you, but if they don't, and the worst happens, I hope you will speedily find a good alternative income stream.
You are in my prayers.

After reflection, I admit I had become bored with my job, and that was undoubtedly showing through in my work. However, I've decided to view this as an opportunity. I believe God had been telling me to pursue more writing and teaching for some time, but I would not do it.
I now have no excuse.
Though I imagine I will need another day job at least for a while, I am contacting people about freelance writing and editing jobs as well as teaching opportunities with churches in my state.
I pray for success in finding God's will.

God has this tendency to do that, ie Jonah... or myself for that matter. God bless you in all you do.

Update:
I have 2 interviews in the next few days!
This is after weeks of no nibbles on my resume except for scammers, money launderers, and insurance sales positions (I can't open my own business if I'm trying to write and teach).
It is so amazing. I was talking to this guy who flips houses in the neighborhood. I knew he used to be with the Navigators, so I was talking to him about helping him flip. He came by with a booklet he wrote (we bought our house from him) and told me I needed to pray very specifically for what I want in a job. I did right after he left.
It's like God went down a checklist on these 2 interviews. They line up with what I wrote down so well.
Yeah, I'm praising!

God is so good. I did both interviews, and accepted an offer from one. I will still have time to write and prepare for church teachings.
On writing news, I talked to a missionary friend of mine about ghostwriting for his area of expertise. He has expertise for the topic, I have time and ability to write. He's interested!
And I got an offer from examiner.com to be their Christian History blogger.
I say none of this to boast. God is faithful. I have been so overwhelmed by Him today.

Some bad news. The job offer was a attempt at identity theft. God blocked the "employment information documents" from getting to the guy so he doesn't have my info. I confirmed that it was not legit by sending an email to the company he claimed to work for. They had heard of him... from other people that he had done the same thing to. I gave the owner a phone number that was supposed to be his. She said she would be sending it to the London authorities.
The other items are still go at this point, though. And I got a few more writing assignments today.
Even when things look the worst, God is still looking out for us.

What a roller coaster, Frank. That's awful. Praise God you were kept safe, it sounds like. But what a disappointment.
It's harder to revel in God's goodness when you're not seeing it as clearly or recently. But I guess that's where the faith thing comes into play (he said, counseling himself and no one else).
Glad you've got some good prospects, Frank.
