So this is a piggy back off the other one, but there you go. My list is: Thr3e I like the book, hate the movie. Eragon Ugh. Don't get me started... Wicker Man Need I say more? Ghost Rider Why Nicholas Cage? Why? City of Ember It never explained ANYTHING! OK, I'm done for now.

OK, I do not have appropriate discernment when it comes to movies. Not only did I see Forgetting Sarah Marshall--twice--but I giggled through it. So believe me when I say Being John Malkovich, while entertaining an interesting premise, was a complete waste of everything that was involved in the making and showing of that movie.
Also, I'm one of the only people in the world, apparently, who didn't like Legend. (No! Wait! Tom says he hates it, too!)
And Star Wars: The Clone Wars was pretty bad.

The only version of LEGEND I acknowledge is the European cut with the original, far superior (though still not complete) score by Jerry Goldsmith. Doesn't make the movie a masterpiece, but the edit makes more sense, and the music improves the film dramatically.
THE CLONE WARS is what it is. I have to admit that I'm fond of it, but I'm a STAR WARS nut, and all things being equal, I think it's a fun show. Of course, as a good friend of mine points out, some dramatic tension is lost when you know how the story ends, but I'm rather glad to see STAR WARS returning to its Saturday Matinee roots.

What about the old "B" movies? Classics like Flash Gordon and the ORIGINAL Battlestar Galactica? Forbidden Planet. They can't be classified as "the worst," but they are so corny and just plain awesome! One that I am trying so hard to like, but I just have to accept that it's poorly made, is Twilight. I think the story is great (vampire Romeo and Juliet rehashed,) but the movie...needs help. From the screenplay to the "twitchy" lead actress, a complete satisfying remake is much needed!

"Wing Commander". As an avid lover of the Wing Commander series, two things made my soul die. The final game, Wing Commander: Prophesy, and the movie. It was like getting punched in the throat and then kicked in the groin. The Kilrathi in the movie look like hideous goblins rather than the majestic, yet fearsome looking tigers and lions in the game. The character backgrounds and the story line are vastly different from the game's. Finally, the fighters looked nowhere near as cool and deadly as the game's.

Twilight is just as bad as Eragon in my opinon. Although Eragon did have the benifit of Jeremy Irons, and Garrett Hudland looked like he was enjoying himself ememsely. And I have to admit, I was entertained by Night Rider. And Van Helsing, which probably counts. ;D

Okay, so does it consign me to the lower rungs of the Inferno to suggest The Ice Pirates?

How about this? I can't remember if it was called "Santa Clause in Outer Space" or "Santa Clause goes to Mars", but I remember this really goofy one named like that one time that the guys from MST3K ripped the (fill in with your own expletive) out of. All I really remember was some old guy dressed in a bright red suit talking with either his elves or aliens, either way they were short people, and they were in what was supposed to be a spaceship.

I saw that MST3K clip too. The film in question is called Santa Claus Conquers the Martians. One sci-fi film that I actually like but that some people might find cheesy is the 1984 film The Last Starfighter. It stars Lance Guest and Robert Preston and is the last theatrical film Robert Preston did before his death. It tells the story of Alex Rogan, a kid from a trailer park (played by Guest) who gets involved in an intergalactic battle between the planet Rylos and the Ko-Dan Armada (led by a guy named Xur) for which he has unknowingly been trained by a stand-up arcade game called Starfighter, invented by an alien of Rylos named Centauri (played by Preston). As the title suggests, Alex ends up being the last Starfighter remaining against Xur and takes out his armada using his ship's last-resort weapon ("Death Blossom"), although Xur manages to escape. Not a bad film, but some might find it cheesy.

How can you not love The Last Starfighter? Save the universe, escape the trailer park, run away with the girl, what could be better?
And I do like The Ice Pirates...it's just a wee bit unwholesome, even for a B-grace scifi.

Last Starfighter rocked! I loved that movie.
Bad movies: Space Camp Enough plot holes for three shuttles to escort the Enterprise-E through. Animatrix I know it's like 9 episodes, but I found them all various levels of bad. Matrix 2 and 3 1 was cool, but it was better to leave it alone. Star Trek: Nemesis. I can't believe that they broke the streak of even movies being good! I used to be a rabid ST fan, but I couldn't stand 10. The villain wasn't up to snuff (a common failing of the ST:NG films).
