Hi guys, it's an honor to be here! I would like to post my query for my Christian Sci-fi Novel MERLANIA. Feel free to critique.
I entered this novel in the Amazon Breakthrough Novel Award, made it all the way to the top 10% but got knocked out in the semi-finals.
There were 10,000 entrants from 22 eligible countries.
Anyway, enough with that...
Query
Keith and Michael have lost everything. Their careers, their homes, and any meaningful existence. When a childhood friend turned government agent offers them a chance for wealth, it seems they have nothing left to lose. Except their lives.
Charged with defending their empire by a shadowy and faceless government, the Company sets out to find Uraltanium, an ultimate source of perpetual energy lost in the galaxy's core for decades, an unstable time bomb that would mean freedom for their people if found, or their enslavement, if lost to the enemy.
Alone and light years from home doubt begins to set in, and friendships are stretched to breaking point. Barely has their mission begun when they find themselves framed for murder and treason, abandoned by the very regime they are risking their lives to protect. With only a hundred year old freighter at their disposal, they must evade capture and reach the galactic core before it's too late.
Fans of Orson Scott Card and Ben Bova will lose themselves in Merlania, (128,000 words) a surprising science fiction debut novel about love in all its forms, sacrifice, xenophobia, faith, fear, and the freedoms that we're willing to give up to secure our safety and survival.
Merlania will resonate with young adults who have grown up in the shadow of war, global instability and terrorism, demonstrating that there is hope, even in the darkest of times. But most importantly, there is love...even in the farthest reaches of the abyss.
Thank you in advanced for your time!
