Not sure if this belongs, here and you think I would know being an admin but Did God say he would never again flood the earth, or destroy it. Crucial in a manuscripts I'm writing in which demons "flood" the earth because God has become weary of our inability to learn, however Gabriel and Michael (yes the angels) try to stop the tide and help teach humanity their lesson, although the plan is to have them fail, because I want to make a point. Anyway, never again flood or destroy?

The latter part of Gen 8:21 says: "'And never again will I destroy all living creatures, as I have done.'" "As I have done" seems ambiguous in English. Does it mean "as all the living creatures were destroyed"? Or "as I did it with a flood"?
But then in 9:11 it says: "'I establish my covenant with you: Never again will all life be cut off by the waters of a flood; never again will there be a flood to destroy the earth.'"
So there is that--"waters of a flood." I suppose the Earth could still be flooded with demons or blood or maple syrup.

Maple syrup would be by far the most interesting flood story ever written. Can see the headlines now, Earth Drowning in Maple Syrup, Slowly, Canadians Hold Pancake Festivals

I love the maple syrup idea. Satan's always mimicking God's ways, but perverts them. God promised the children of Israel a land flowing with milk and honey. Maple syrup is sweet like honey, but a flood is more than enough, it's over indulgence and a curse instead of a blessing. I know it was a joke, but I still like it.

Well, from what I recall, one of the substances (beside the bee vomit we call honey) the Hebrews referred to as honey was actually some sort of sap

I don't think anyone here was around for it, I know I certainly wasn't, but a long time ago there was a molasses flood in British Columbia I think. Greatest story ever, big vats of the stuff got too hot and flooded the streets. Took a very long time to clean up. I'm probably wrong about where it happened though.

That had to be quite a sticky situation.

One thing I found interesting was that Gen 7:11 implied the water was not just rain — the fountains of the earth opened up, too.
Maple syrup? My husband is corn sensitive. I hope it's real maple syrup and not maple-flavored corn syrup.

Not only that, but the initial rains were a very specific kind of torrent, a pounding downpour that was known to tear walls down to the ground; the Deluge was a violent, catastrophic event the likes of which we can scarcely imagine.

R J Rushdoony pushed a book on The Genesis Flood by, by Whitcomb and Riley, through a Presbyterian publishing house nearly a half-century ago. These hydrologists "did the math" on the flood question, and postulated a "hydrosphere" that surrounded the pre-flood earth, and collapsed at the time of Noah.
There is evidence of pre-deluvian atomic warfare -- radioactive ancient skeletons in the Ganges river valley, anomalous fused glass in desert sands, etc. Imagine a scenario where an advanced civilization destabilizes the hydrosphere with atomic bombs ....
