I'm sure plenty of people think I am a pain in the neck, but for years I've been seeing a doctor and a massage therapist because I have a pain in my neck. The pain has gotten worse since the end of summer, and my chronic headaches more frequent, so my doctor sent me for an MRI. The good news: There's nothing wrong with my brain. (Nothing physical, anyway) The bad news: I have arthritis in my spine. My doctor thinks I may also have fibromyalgia*, but that will take a follow-up with a neurologist to diagnose. Both of these are conditions that are manageable, but not curable, so please pray that I will be able to cope and not let physical pain cause depression, and that I won't use it as an excuse to not do the things I need to do. Managing the arthritis is going to require modifications to my diet and excercise regimen (such as it is), so I need prayer to help me overcome my inertia, too. Thanks, all. * = "Fibromyalgia" is apparently the technical term for "muscles and tendons that hurt for no apparent reason."

I'm so sorry to hear this, kfstieffel. Chronic pain bites.
My understanding of fibromyalgia is that it's a condition in which the body determines that your joints and ligaments are really your enemy, and sets about to attack them.
Keep us updated.

I sympathize; I have arthritis as well in my ankles and wrists. Pain is right. My prayers are with you.
