Well, as of yesterday, I have been laid off and am in desperate need of another job. My husband has had health problems all year and has not worked since May. Things are going to get crazy tight. I have a couple possibilities to follow up on Monday, but nothing solid just yet. I simply cannot afford to be out of work long. Your prayers are coveted and welcome.

Praying.
Need prayer for a similar reason; the business I am working for is being sold, and I am looking for work ASAP. Have a job I really, really want, but haven't heard back from them yet.
Keep us updated.

I have now prayed for both of you. The great thing about America right now is that people who want to work can find a job. But we all come to need a certain level of pay to meet our obligations.
In my experience, the kind of crisis you're going through often leads to a rather large change, like moving across the country or doing a completely different kind of work. The need causes us to be willing to accept changes we wouldn't have even contemplated if the crisis hadn't come.
So if you hear of a job in another state or another line of work, don't necessarily dismiss it from your mind. God may be using this to redirect you into a new path He wants you to travel.

The thought had occurred to me. Unfortunately, one frequently needs money just to make the move....
Thanks, Jeff. Prayers much appreciated.

Not to sound trite, divides, but when God wants you to make a move like that He'll be sure you have the wherewithall to do so.
But I completely understand. Every time I've moved across the country for a job (and we've now lived in all four time zones in the continental U.S.), the new company paid for (most of) the move.
Just...don't automatically reject something that would require relocation, is all I'm saying.

Thanks for the prayers and please keep them up. So far, all I have is possibilities. Nothing concrete yet except for two "no's". Thank goodness for unemployment!

Jeff, I don't think you sound trite at all. You have to understand that I don't exactly have the credentials to work for the kinds of companies that would supply the money to move. So it truly would be an act of God to provide for that sort of thing. Not saying He wouldn't do it; just doubtful that the companies I'm qualified to work for would be willing to. Trust me, though; I'm not rejecting anything. I'll continue to apply and elsewhere. Who knows? I have some good friends in Colorado Springs; maybe we could be neighbors. Robi, definitely keeping up the prayers. I'm going in tomorrow to follow up (again!) on this job. Hopefully we'll both have something concrete soon. I know uncertainty is stressful (I suppose one could look at it as "living in faith," but I wish it weren't so ulcer-inducing!).

Amen to that! I know that something will come through, I just don't know what or when. I'm trying very hard not to go into panic mode, but when I start looking at the electric bill and the water bill and the mortgage; well, the stomach just starts churning. But, I rest very heavily on the fact that God has not let me down yet and I really don't expect Him to start now. I'll remember you as well. Good luck on the follow ups!

I wish I could say the same. God has frequently let me down ... at least as far as my earthly desires go. I'm sure that's only because He's making better plans. But the sheer frequency of my "refinement" process has me wondering if instead of pure gold, there will be nothing but a burnt lump of scrap metal left at the end. The company had four applicants ... and decided to hire from within. I'm getting so tired of this. Hope that you are faring better.

Well, not so far. I have an interview on Monday morning so we'll see how that goes. I've also been contacted by a "headhunter" who said Lockheed would be calling to set up an interview. So far all they've done is call and verify that I am who my resume says I am. I understand about the refining part. We've been in this situation over and over the last few years and it does get old. But I've learned that God is always there. As far as my earthly desires, no God doesn't usually fulfill them as I would wish or I would have won the lottery several time over, retired to a mountain retreat and would be currently indulging in writing only. Since that obviously hasn't happened, He desires something else for me. What? I dunno But I'm sure when He reveals all it will be more than I could have ever hoped or dreamed. I have faith in my Father who owns the cattle on a thousand hills. I'll remember you, divides, because we have the same Father and I know He has spectacular things planned for you as well. He does for all His children.

You are in a difficult position, rwley and dividesthewaters, and it is sad to read of your rejections. While the financial strain is certainly stressful, and you do "need a job", it is equally true that there's a job out there that needs you. Some may disagree, but it is my belief that for the faithful Christian, there are no accidents. God had something in mind when He allowed you to find yourselves in this position.
In a way, you are like the Good Shepherd, out looking for a job which at the moment is out of sight, which needs for you to find it. Once you do find it, there will be people and situations to which you will bring a special grace. Try to think of any rejection not as saying anything about you, but rather about that place of work. That particular place of work isn't the place intended to receive your ministry. Thinking of it this way should encourage you in your efforts.
Please don't lose heart. I don't think it is extravagant to say that all of us here are praying for both of you.
Kindest regards
Teskas

And the search goes on . . . and on. I had an interview with UTA on Monday and I'll find out about it next week. I put in two apps with TCU, one based on a networking referral (thank the Good Lord for friends with friends), and the other I found while I was looking at the one I had been referred to (bad grammar, I know). Anyway, we'll just keep praying and God will turn up something for me, I know.
Dividesthewaters, how's it going for you? I'm remembering you. God has something great planned so keep hangin' in there ;D

I'm sorry I've been delinquent to chime in, but I'm praying for the both of you, too. Just in case you are keeping track, the last time was today at 9:48 Central Time. You know, just in case any "coincidences" happen to occur.
