Greetings from Texas,
My name is Vaughn (which I type 'Von') and I am 48 years old, former missionary, former schoolteacher, current EMT, LVN and aspiring writer. I have one wife, six kids, and a couple of dozen books. None published, several on the web, and several more existing only as an idea, outline, or random chapters.
I enjoy writing Sci-fi, fantasy/allegory, theology, politics, and more.
You can read my sci-fi and fantasy books at my site:
sites.google.com/site/vonsscifi
or, if you are interested in politics or theology, at:

I look forward to seeing what you all are doing here.

Welcome to the Anomaly, Von! Sounds like you'll fit in rather well, here. Now, as part of the official welcome ceremony, we just have to...erm... anoint you with this here scalding hot binding glue and these old shredded receipts.

I'm about to post a hello too, just reading some other new folks like me's first posts. I'm fairly sure that last sentence is not grammatically correct.

And a welcome from the Far North! Well, Missouri is north of Texas. ;D

Welcome Von! Nice to have another Texas around. What part of the world did you serve in as a missionary? We were in Ecuador.

Welcome Von! Sounds like you've had an interesting life - a missionary, a schoolteacher, and now an EMT and LVN. That's quite a lot.

Metalikhan, let me help you out.
*ahemhem*
Welcome from the far north! The frozen wastelands of the Canadian prairie are, in fact, about straight north of Texas.
Never mind CS and his glue. It just explains to me why the gnome asked for a swirly, and then quit his duties in an incensed huff.
And now to attempt to finish my stroll around the newcomer threads...

*Laughing* Thanks for helping me out, Cat! I don't get too emotionally attached to places, but I'm rather fond of whatever piece of geography I'm standing on. Most of my family lives about 3 hours south of me. One of my nieces used to say I'm too far north to visit; but when she couldn't remember the name of the city where I live, she called it the Far North. There's some friends who live about 35 mins away who sometimes refer to my residence as the Far East or over the Border (they're in Kansas). Likewise, a cousin who lives north of me told me that I'm in the Deep South. It's a world of deranged cartographers. What a relief to know there's a place that's totally off any map — or where CS has been busy with his shredder!
