Help me. What are the major areas of scientific study and their subgroups?
So far I have Geology, Chemistry, Physics, Biology, and Astronomy. (All of these are going to be characters in my story).
I also need branches of these. Feel free to correct anything I get wrong.
I'm thinking like this: Biology Botany , Zoology

biochemistry, icthiology,
If want to get down to it if you look out and name something you see there's a branch of science (with a wacky name) to study it, lol

With a nod to Indiana Jones, what about Archaeology and Anthropology? Oh, and Sociology and Psychology?

Those would all fall under social sciences, yeah?

I've also heard them called soft sciences. The hard sciences --at least to my understanding -- are those based on measurable data, predictability, empirical evidence, etc. The less concrete soft sciences encompass the social sciences;although at the moment, I can't think of other soft sciences that wouldn't be social -- maybe it's just a synonym.

This is what I was looking for. Chemistry is going to be a character and then Biochemistry will be a little being that pops out of him.

Oh Biochem was my major! lol, may I suggest the Krebs (glucose) cycle if you get that far into stuff. I had to memorize not only the names of every compound and enzyme in the cycle but also be able to draw teh structures. from memory Ah me! no wonder I didn't go to med school.

Yay, Krebs cycle! I had to memorize that too. Nothing like good old glycolysis to explain why your muscles are sore after a run.
