So, I'm bitting the bullet and subbing to OSC's (Orson Scott Card's) Boot camp. I have friends that have gone and they are all published now (Two of them were nominated for a Campbell this year). Not that publishing's the ultimate goal, but it shows how much they were helped with their craft. I'm more nervous about this than I've been about subbing in a long time. It's a once in a lifetime chance, you know. He never comes out to my area. www.hatrack.com/bootcamp2008.shtmlI'd just love prayer. Mostly for my nerves. I want God's will above everything else. Only 15 people are chosen out of the huge lot, so it's a slim chance, but I believe God can do anything. He can even make my writing interesting to OSC. I'll find out by the end of May if I got in.

Keep us in the loop.
You'd be great there, by the way.

Best of luck. Of course, if it's God's will, there is no luck involved. Prayers for the best for you.

How very, very cool. And that's one of the more reasonable rates I've seen for this sort of thing.

I'm so on cloud nine right now! Thanks so much, guys, for your prayers. I really appreciate it. Keep praying. It all suddenly feels like so much is going on. I want to be a good stuart of what God is giving me. I'm working with OSC's assistant to get a roommate so I can save money and my husband is working out how to get all the days off. But it all feels like its coming together really smooth. God is good. And as an extra boost I got an email from The World of Froud saying they put my site up on the artist of the month page for June. www.worldoffroud.com/www/froudians/frdart/index.cfm Yay. And God helped me get 8,000 more words on my wip the week before all my relatives showed up to stay. I can't wait until my house guests leave so that I can buckle down again. Is that evil? I just really want to finish before the end of summer.

I'm back!!!! I survived the torture!!!!
Wow, that was...stunning.
I'm still processing, trying to figure it all out. There was so much meat in those five days it's going to take years to chew it all. That man is amazing.
Thanks for praying. I really needed it. Lots of stress and no sleep.
But it was pure joy at the same time. God was really with me and I loved all the pressure--I seem to thrive in that kind of environment lately.
I'll try to blog about it soon with more detail and I'll post the link.

Yeah, I, for one, wouldn't mind reading all about it.

Welcome back, Rachel! We're so glad you got a lot out of it.
I, too, will be interested in reading your blog about it.
