I am following the "novel design" list laid out by Randy Ingermanson in his Fiction 101 course, and at the point I have reached, he says to take a break from the design process, write a proposal, and get it critiqued.
I have recently registered for my first writing conference, the San Diego Christian Writers Guild fall conference happening later this month. They will have people there to evaluate your ideas before you take them to editors and agents, so I am hoping to get my proposal critiqued there.
But I have a problem: I've never written a proposal before! I'm not even sure what should be in a proposal (other than the character synopses Randy recommends including). Please help!

Didn't Jeff write something about proposals?

Did he? If he did, I'll have to check it out.
