Runners have just entered the city bearing news from the nearby breakaway republic of Charleston. Apparently, the magistrate has been overthrown and chaos has descended. I fear a full football rebellion is unavoidable. We will be sending out our gridiron suppression force at 1900 in hopes of smashing this uprising before it can attain a foothold. Confidence is high.
*In all seriousness. I have fun with this, but I hope you will join me in praying for the safety of not only my son, but all of the young men that will be hurtling themselves headlong into one another all across the country this weekend.*

Yes indeed. My husband is a high school football official. Yup a zebra. He has seen one young man get hurt so bad he may not walk again. He actually got caught up in a play a couple of seasons ago, couldn't get out of the way, tore cartlige in his knee. So keep the officials in your prayers too, there's talk in the NFL of making them wear pads because of the severe injuries in the past few years.

Ahhh, football season. Fortunately for me, it was a lot less likely to get hurt in the band. But prayers for all involved are definitely a good thing. I love to see kids dedicated to something that encourages teamwork, good sportsmanship, and discipline.

The uprising has been put down with ease. The final tally, 54-0 should serve as a strong deterrent to any who would consider such an act in the future. Law and order have been restored.
Casualties - zero. God is good.

Ours was 35-17 (not in our favor, I might add), with one player off in the ambulance before the end of the first quarter. I'm *so* glad my son is in the band rather than on the field. I don't think my wife could take the stress. I have serious doubts about my own ability to do so. And I suspect that the deterrent will do little to deter, since they're all planning on doing it again next weekend. And the next one. And the next one...
