In my e-mail box the other day, I got my "Daily Kick in the Pants" from David Farland (his daily, real-life admonishment newsletter to writers), and in it, he referred to the concept of the "mouse potato." I guess you could say the mouse potato is the 21st century's version of the couch potato. I had this sudden jab to the gut. Oh no! I'm one of them. (As is evidenced by the fact that I am online posting this.)
Part of the trouble, I realized, was that one can disguise sitting in front of the computer as "work," whereas nobody would argue tv watching is productive. The point the daily kick was making is that we writers can get sucked into trolling the web for all kinds of writing related information and discussion, but the fact is, 90% of that time we should be...you guessed it...WRITING.
So, call me convicted. Anybody else here struggling with "mouse potatoishness?"

Me. Oh sooo me! I have a largish stack of work on my desk I should be doing, but here I am, lol, surfing, hoping I don't get any nasty phone calls/emails asking for that report that we all know is useless paperwork but was due last week.
