With the stepping-away of its founder, I'm taking a more active role in the Friday Challenge website. As such, I thought I'd publicize it a bit here. The Friday Challenge (formerly the Ranting Room) is an informal, weekly short story contest. On Friday, the subject, inspiration, or what-have-you will be posted. Entries will be accepted until the following Thursday at midnight. Their links will be posted on Friday, along with the next week's challenge. Everyone is encouraged to read the entries and post their comments both on the blog and on the writers' blogs. On Sunday, the winner will be announced and sent a book from the stash. Most writers post their stories on their own blogs. We've discovered that publishers (namely Analog) consider open-blog entries to be pre-published. To that end, you may post stories on something called "drop.io" which I'm not familiar with, but the fact it requires a password to read makes it "unpublished." Throughout the week, the blog will post other articles including "Ruminations of an Old Goat" on Monday, "Geek-Fu" (an essay on different sci fi empires out there) on Wednesdays, various book reviews, and a comic. Many of the regulars are believers, and Christian sci fi is absolutely welcome. We welcome new story-writers and are open to mid-week contributions, as well. Come check us out!

I've heard of the Friday challenge and adore the concept. I know that it will flourish under your leadership, TRF. Oh, and if anyone writes for it and would like someplace to part their story, let's not forget about TC2!
