Hi all!
My husband is currently a police officer which as I'm sure you know a very trying job. He works nights and I work days. He get home a 6:00 am - 10 minutes before I leave with our 1 year old son to go to work. I get home at about 5:50 pm - 10 minutes before he leaves for work. Needless to say our lives are very hectic and we hardly ever see eachother. And my husband hardly ever sees our son.
He is seriously considering leaving law enforcement for something else but he seems lost as to what to do. I am asking that you guys pray for him in his search.
Thanks to all!

Praying for you and your husband, juniper.
My husband and I had a couple of years of that same kind of awful schedule back in the early 90's. Sometimes, we did get to wave at each other going opposite ways on the highway. It's rough to go through. Trust in God's timing and guidance -- He does deliver us through our trials and supplies the reserves we need to endure.

Thanks guys for your prays. It's tough right now, but I'm certain God has a plan for why and how. I'm interested to see how His plan works out

Could he maybe hang on a bit until he can gain the seniority to choose a different shift? How long would that be? What about applying at police departments in other communities around you? What about asking for school protection detail or something that would change his hours but let him stay with the same police department?

Hey Jeff!
That is sort of what he's doing now; however, I think he may be becoming a bit drained on law enforcement. I truly believe this is one of the hardest professions in the world...and unfortunatly the officers get very little respect. I think he's starting to worry about being around to see his son grow up because of the dangers he faces everyday. I, of course, will support him in whatever he decides. I just pray for him to have guidence as he seeks it out.

He might look into becoming a security guard. A guy with an active police officer's license and recent police experience would be highly valued in a security company and might instantly land him a posting or shift that he wouldn't usually get until he'd been there for a while.

Homeland Security is recruiting as well. A recent report in the news was saying that the Department of Homeland Security will continue to expand over the next number of years--not just in Washington, DC, but also regional offices.
