Hi all! I just have to tell you guys something exciting/scary that's happening to me.... I work as a Physical Education teacher at a private K-12 school. I'm such an anomaly! PE teacher who LOVES to read - not just read but read fantasy/scifi!...not to mention that I'm a female PE teacher who's married with a kid but I won't get into that Anyway, my best friend at the school is the librarian. She read the Speculative Christian Fantasy novel that I wrote and she LOVES it! She's looking to get the students excited about reading because next week is "Teen Read Week" so she's asked me to come into the library and read a chapter from my book for any older (only 9-12 grade because the novel is geared for adults) student willing to come and listen. She's making posters and announcements about it which is pretty scary for me because until just recently only a very small handful of people even was aware I wrote a book. But she believes that if the "cool" PE teacher shows how much she loves reading then maybe the kids will get into it as well. As for me, I'm just hoping to get some teenagers excited about Speculative Christian Fiction...and to not embarrass myself too much So if you remember to, say a quick prayer for me next week! Thanks!

The Creature's PE teacher is a former Marine who spent all summer taking classes on space. He's promised to incorporate rockets with fitness. Not exactly sure how, but he's pretty enthusiastic.

Holy Moly, I would have SO failed gym if my teacher had been a Marine, rockets or no. I was the biggest non athlete ever. But hey, if he can get space and gym to overlap, he should have some interesting classes going, to say the least. It's Speculative Fitness.

How exciting! PT and rockets... well, I won't complain. It's better than the "1...2...3..4-hey!" We do. Also, do you think you could plug TC2 while you have so many eager minds before you? Yes, I'm shameless, but you are never too young to get hooked on reading

Hmmm, still trying to figure out the space rockets and fitness...I'll have to look into that for my classes.
Christian Soldier - I will certainly tell them about TC2!!! I would love to get this next generation pumped about Speculative Christian Fiction!

juniper, I was wondering something: Are you at a Christian school? Because in this day and age I can only imagine the flak you could get if you did that at any other kind of school. I know you said it was private, so I know it isn't public, but private doesn't necessarily mean Christian, so I was just wondering. This certainly sounds like a great opportunity for you as well as the kids. You should be sure to mention the extensive list of books that Jeff has on Where the Map Ends so that they would have a lot of choices for them. Just be sure you have the exact URLs for each of the sites you refer them to. For example, you can mention www.wherethemapends.com , but then when you mention the booklist on there you would have to make sure you give them the proper extension in case they want to go directly there: www.wherethemapends.com/Booklist/booklist_intro.htm Of course, you can just tell them to click on "Booklist" too, but at least by having the complete URL in your notes you'll be ready for the one that actually asks for it. There's other sites out there too. Don't forget Jake Chism's www.fictionaddict.com website. Also, even though I'm not selling books yet, don't forget the website I just launched: www.beyondthecharts.com Right now I'm selling only DVDs, Blu-Rays and CDs but you can mention it as a source to go to for the speculative. If you haven't looked at my thread yet in the blog and bios area on here about it, you should do so in order to find out a little more about what I'm doing on there. There's another site I'm trying to remember, but when I was typing it in I must not have typed it in correctly. Something about the Christian Manifesto or something like that which Eric Wilson and Jake Chism have both been a part of, but I can't think of the website. Can anyone else think of the correct site? You could have a speculative revolution at your school! ;-) May the Lord bless you in this!

Hey dizzy!
My school is a college prep school that is not necessarily Christian based school. However, we are very open to celebrating religion. In fact we do the Lord's prayer every morning along with the Pledge of Allegiance. I was careful though and made sure it was okay with my Head Master - he thinks it's a wonderful idea.
I will certain let the interested students know about all the websites you suggested. Whatever leads them to Speculative Christian Fiction and ultimatly God is truly the main goal right!!!

I'll certainly pray for that. Do you do any coaching as well?
