I broke 30k tonight. Not sure if the story will go all the way to 50, it's already plunging toward the climax. I have another story I can work on to get the 50k, though. I think this has been a really good experience. It's really making me get comfortable writing more than usual. But I'm ready to be able to do other things, like editing.

So are you guys having fun? Also, do you like your story?
Everything's starting to come together now. All my oddball clues are making sense. I just had one character yell to another character, "You're a freaking genius!" because the other character figured this out way before I did.

Having fun? Yes. Like my story? I love it, this is one of favorites that I've done so far.
Finding time to write? Not so much. Everything just has to happen right at the same time... On the bright side, even with all the chaos, I'm being much more consistant in finding time to write this month, so there's that...

I'm liking it okay - at first I hated it and was wishing I'd worked on something else for Nano, but it's coming together. At least I found a cure for the zombies, I think...

Anyone finished? I've got less than 3500 to go!

I've got about 12000 to go. I think I can nail it down over the next week. The whole story's teetering on the brink of that slide to the climax. I'm just afraid it won't be long enough and I'll have to switch to another story. It'll require a brain reboot.

I have 11,268 to go. I still hope I'll make it to 50K, but if I don't, I've still had a lot of fun doing this!!

As of today, I've got 6,287 to go...I can do that in two days? Not! Well maybe, I'm still trying. If nothing else, I've got almost 50,000 words in a rough draft to work with later! Right?

I finished tonight! Booyeah! Just barely cleared the mark at 50918. It'll pad out quite a bit in the next draft, I think. For now, I'm just glad to be finished.
Now, back to my other neglected projects!

My congrats to all the writers.
I didn't get any where near the goal, but I do have a healthy start for my next novel. Not to mention all the other projects now on my plate including:
A synopsis for the Love Inspired Line at Harlequin.
A couple of submissions for a charity anthology being put together to either benefit the fire fighters or the Red Cross in Colorado Springs in the aftermath of the fires.
A request for a fanfiction story from Misty for her zine.
Oh, and more deadlines to meet.

I admire your energy, Dragonlots. I'm working through your edits on my short story right now, and they're extensive. You must work your tail off all day long doing this stuff!

Kessie,
Several hours yes. I only edited two days a day. It's a combination of wanting the best stories possible for the antho and wanting to help other writers get better at their craft. I have the advantage of both formal training and a wonderful editor I worked with for 13 years. You should have seen what she did to my first three stories she accepted! I always looked forward to her edits because I wanted to get better. I recently wrote her an email thanking her for all her help. She was both stunned and delighted!
I did reject a total of five stories. A couple didn't fit the guidelines, one was a weak story, one started out great but didn't come through on the its promise and one had confusing story elements and a ending that didn't make sense. I wrote them all a nice rejection letter, giving feedback on the problems I saw. I got some very sweet replies to most of them.
I did get the first draft of my short story for the charity antho completed yesterday. Today I will polish it up. I'm really hoping my ex-roomies of those many years ago never see it. Granted I changed their names and fictionalized some of it, but it is based on an actual event. I survived Hurricane Gloria in 1985 when she smashed into New England. My poem 'The Gal' is based on it as well.
Now I'd better get off the forums and get something done. Contracts and Bio requests need to go out tomorrow or Tuesday. I'm taking Wednesday off!
