Hi Everybody! Here's how we do this: copy and paste the number list below. Then each day you put down your number of words written for the day and update your total by editing (modify) your post. We can cheer each other on or ask questions at any time during the month! Hope this will be fun and encouraging! ;D Pauline Creeden Title: Sanctuary Genre: Horror/Speculative 1. 3013 2. 1873 3. 2223 4. 1480 5. 2015 6. 2224 7. 1684 8. 1503 9. 515 -havin a slow weekend 10. 2682 11. 2025 12. 1732 13. 0 - maybe the 13th really is unlucky... 14. 669 15. 1374 16. 2588 17. 3115 18. 1406 19. 2385 20. 603 21. 1507 22. 2126 23. 4789 24. 3013 25. 3600 26. 27. 28. 29. 30. ----------- Total: 50,144 ~ DONE!

Sounds like a good idea! I'll stake mine out for now.
I'm working simultaneously on Spacetimes 2 and 5. Between them I can definitely get my wordcount up.
Day zero being stuff written three hours before Nano officially started. I figure it almost counts.

So who loves their story and who hates it?
Most of what I've written seems like bunk, but it's getting better and more interesting as it goes!

I'm getting very interested in my story. It's really rough, but it's making me laugh in some places.

I like all the stories I write.
There's just parts of them I hate writing... like getting characters from point A to point B. Blah, let's just get them over here so we can have some more fun character development!

Aaron: That's when you have teleporters, portal gates, or hyperspace with cryo sleep chambers. Travel becomes one paragraph or less.

Yeah, there just aren't any in this particular story (thousand year plus war has increased war tech, reduced other tech. There's always someone to fight close by, so travel tech really isn't needed.). There was a scene in the POV of a winged character where we get to go flying with her. That was fun to write.

Why not make the travel itself a good place for character development? I just read The Thief by Megan Whalen Turner, and the whole book takes place while traveling. Over the course of the book, the characters cross through a valley, climb a mountain, go down the other side, and wind up at the ocean.
But it was interesting to read because the Magus character is keeping up the one kid's education, and they do sparring and stuff, and nobody trusts the main character, the thief. So there's lots of interesting conflict going on.

That's where I am too Aaron...I've got my MC and the hero talking but I need them to move over to point EFG but they are stuck at D...i am really tempted for the sake of Camp Nano to just type [insert interesting stuff here] and move on over to the good stuff. LOL Would that be so wrong...I can always go back, as you said, Post-production and write it in later.
