As Christians I believe it's our responsibility to keep in focus the idea that all power ultimately comes from God and that it should not be used for evil.
I chose to include magic in my Fantasy novels, though its source will be a meteorite that impacted the earth thousands of years previously.
The Dragons remember and understand that the magic is power that ultimately came from God, or, the One, (One True God) as He is called there.
The Fairies have forgotten this. Wizards use magic for good or evil as they wish, except for my MC. He has a lesson to learn and God has plans to use him to put the fairies back in their place.
Here's a short excerpt from book III where the king of the dragons explains some of this to the MC: (Perhaps it will give you a glimpse of how I'm dealing with this sensitive subject...)
Kyne tried to reach for the power that he could sense just behind that wall. But the wall stayed firmly up.
“I can’t do this on my own!” he exclaimed. “Why’s that dratted wall there anyway? I should be able to just get to that power whenever I want! To do whatever I want with it!”
“Perhaps the wall is there to remind you the power really isn’t yours to abuse,” said Grrathnak quietly. “All power ultimately comes from the One, and isn’t for us to steal to use for selfish reasons.”
“But Klavieh used magic to do evil; to attack Garon and Skak, and attempt to kill me. She had no limitations on the power she could use.”
“Did that make it right, what she was doing with the power?” asked Grrathnak. “Her story is not your story. Perhaps the One put that wall inside you to teach you something.”
