Just wanted to say "hi"--I was so excited to find this website and other believers who like to read and write the same out-there stuff that I do. My last critique group--wonderful as they were--didn't really know what to make of my stories. Anyway, here's the quick run-down--I'm married (to a wonderful man, of course ; I have two great sons (almost 11 and 8); I'm a part-time elementary school teacher; and I live in the Arvada area. Does anyone have a critique group in this area, or is anyone interested in getting one together?

Welcome Beth! I'm not sure where Arvada is, I live in Louisiana, but have you looked into any online groups? If you can't get enough people together to meet in person online can be a good option.

Arvada as in Colorado? I'm another Beth, in the Springs. Welcome.
I think there's at least one other Anomalian who recently moved to Denver. DtW, was that you?

Yes, I just moved to Littleton last year. I am part of a critique group, and might even consider starting another. Feel free to contact me.

Yes, Arvada, Colorado (I didn't think there were any others...? But who knows.) And, no, I'm not the one who just moved here--I've lived here most of my life. Nice to meet you

Thanks for the offer--even if we can't get together in person, maybe online will work. How often do you get together with your other group, and are they all speculative writers?

Welcome M2B! And does EVERYONE live in Colorado? Not that it isn't a great place to live, but you just can't beat those West Texas skies!
I've got three boys and a girl, so life is exciting. Welcome again to the forum. Jump in anytime.

Not only do we have a lot of mothers here, it also seems that Denver, and its outlying suburbs, is the Mecca of Christian spec-fic writers.

Colorado Springs is the hot place for Christian writers in general. Donita K Paul lives up the road from us. John Eldredge is around here, somewhere, when he's not at his ranch. And, of course, there's our very own Jefferson Scott. We also have Focus, Compassion International, and the Navigators, to name but a few of the para-church orgs in town. And my church, which has no building, rents office space and has worship team practice at Cook Communications--the Sunday School curriculum place.
I think half of everyone here is, was, or wants to be a writer. Doesn't necessarily explain the "speculative" slant except to say where there are more writers, there will be more writers of everything.

Thanks for the warm welcome CS--thanks for serving our country over there--I sure appreciate your sacrifice. How long do you have to stay there? I hope things are going better between your mom and your wife--I've been praying for you. Tris--I had to ask my son what ROTFLOL means...lame, huh? Flyboy--I saw your quote by Richard Bach--I went up in an open cockpit biplane after I read that book. Picture a perfect summer day over the Flatirons in Boulder...nothing quite compares. You guys are right, we do have a lot of moms here--maybe because our kids make us just crazy enough to write speculative fiction...
