Oh good, because mine's more YA/urban, possibly steampunk because it's never explained what makes the flyers work. :-) Glad the stories are rolling in! Everybody loves, loves loves their dragons.

Yes, put me on the Vol. 2 list if you would as well.
I'm concocting a story to submit - kind of a sci-fi/high fantasy blend (Dwarves with plasma pistols, anyone? ;D) and a very...unusual dragon.

Reminder - Deadline for submissions is 12/31/2012.
I'm a bit behind on knowing whose stories I have whose I don't, but if you intend to submit and haven't, there's only a few days left.

Hi Dragonlots, Thanks for the reminder. Mine is now (finally) finished apart from a final look over by my wife, and the bio which is happening in the next few minutes . As a result of processing in the Sandbox, I have realized I could write a sequel to it. You did have a call for DD2 regarding possible other stories, but I didn't respond at the time because I couldn't think of anything! Anyway, if the story I submit within the next couple of days appeals to you, there is a possibility of a sequel... Happy New Year, you've got a lot of reading to do, I guess ;D CdeB

Hi DL;
I'm working on it. The story I thought I was going to submit needed too much work. A glowingly 'first effort' kind of thing.
But the lord had mercy and last week another story started spinning in my head, I'm already up over 7,000 words and I've yet to wrap it up.
I'll be finishing it and giving it a reducing self edit this weekend. I assume that the target wordcount is 6K again.
I'll have it to you on the 31st in it's edited form. I hope it makes the cut. I've got two draconic species represented in the crew of the spaceship even though the main POV is human. One of the technical dragons is the Ship's executive officer, another is the medical officer (elemental spirit of divine healing).
It's sort of another short romance/space opera from my Curatorium uinverse.

First off, submissions for DD is closed. I rec'd the last stories from my editor today.
I spend about an hour and half, maybe a bit longer, transferring basic information to a spreadsheet. And then to my thumb drive as backup. My computer is acting a bit quirky. DH has gotten me a new one but it's not set up yet. (Senior parent caretaking is why.)
Before I start reading, I have to rewrite a short story that has been promised to another antho. My deadline is creeping up very quickly and I'm planning to have it done and resent by the 1/5.
I did receive stories from many here on the Anomaly and a number of others I have worked with before, plus some new ones. If the names I'm seeing is any indication, the anthos are going to be wonderful!

Dana,
I hope you got mine; "Rendezvous Point Alpha". I sent it to Wolfsinger the evening of Dec. 31st. My wife (a teacher) proofed it for grammar and all that technical stuff that evening just before I sent it. (She is starting to take my writing more seriously because of your anthologies.)
It isn't the story I thought I would send. That one was one of my earliest attempts and it needed more work than I had time to give it. The new one I mentioned above came together, sort of; but the first draft topped out at 8700 words. Just a bit above the 6k limit.
So I dusted off a short story that I've been dinging away at as I learned the writing craft (I'd read another book and go back to revise it all over again). It's an intermezzo piece to link my WIP novel (Migaard Burning) about the fall of the antedeluvian Atlantis and my mostly complete novella (Odyssey) about the Curatorium's odyssey between the stars searching for an other planet for a ground base.
I'm glad you've gotten so much response for this anthology. It sounds like this could get to be a habit. ;D

I got your story, Kessie's & quite a few from others on the Anomaly. Plus local writers, a couple I know from the fan fiction world, one from a contact in WFTJ writing group, and others I don't know.
36 stories total.
I'll be planning both anthos at the same time, which my publisher and I have already talked about.
Right now, I'm using my lap top since my desk top tends to freeze up and stop working at the least convenient times.
My holiday break is over. Time to seriously get back to writing and editing.

Hey Dana,
Out of curiosity, would you and the publisher be interested in a piece of free-form poetry to open the anthology? If so, I scribbled down a piece today that might serve that purpose well.

I am doing first reads to see what I got. After that I'll start making decisions and sending out editorial suggestions.
Joel, I'll have to get back to you.

For those of you not on my Facebook - I have read 20 of the 37 stories I received. I got one more after the deadline. Have accepted two, although I have not yet alerted the writers, have many on the short list or strong contender - good places for stories to be and a few that need major rewrites/revisions and one I'm just not too sure about.
My goal is to get them all read by the time CoSine starts on 1/25/2013.

Thanks Dragonlots, from somebody not on facebook and glad to be kept in the loop here And now wondering where his story lies and thinking its probably the one you don't know what to do with or worse. . Writing is very much like my day job, research. Much prolonged effort and the occasional glimpses of something more, but with the resolve to keep on trying because it's worth it in the end. Cdeb
